As we enter our Small Steps 4 Hannah weekend, we would like to take a moment to reflect. The event is not about our club, or about football, but it is about community.
The murder of Hannah, Aaliyah, Laianah and Trey in February 2020 in Camp Hill resonated deeply within our community. Our event is a time to come together in support of Sue and Lloyd and their family, in support of our members who grew up with them, worked out at the gym with them, whose children played with Hannah’s children and those who lived next to them or witnessed the events on that day.
Our event is a time to bring awareness around domestic violence issues, to give it voice and help make positive change. We also look to raise funds towards DV charities within the SS4H family to help drive and support that change.
We have many amazing sponsors at our club, big and small who support the ambitions of our First Team, our juniors, or our club as a whole and we thank them all for their faith in us. We also have a wonderful community of local and family businesses who come together for this day donating raffle prizes or sponsoring a team’s kit. We thank each and every one of you for your support.
Finally, we would like to thank the team of people who help put this event together. Many, many hours of work go into making this event happen. Special thanks to Mary-Anne, Danielle and Nigel, club staff and team managers for your tireless work.
Whether you are wearing pink/white, red/white or simply here to support your own team we look forward to sharing this Mother’s Day weekend with you.
